‘Maybe we will blow up your home’: RCMP warn of threatening phone scammers claiming to work for CRA

National Post reports.

“Threatening scammers are impersonating Canada Revenue Agency employees and demanding cash from taxpayers in bold phone scams, the RCMP is warning.

Attempted cons often involve a fake agent claiming someone has made a mistake on their tax return and must immediately pay thousands of dollars “or else an arrest will be made,” according to a statement released by the RCMP.

Fraudsters have even threatened to kill an uncooperative target or blow up their house, police said….”
